Type 3 bronze drop winch / leeboard halyard winch for wire.

This winch uses the tried and tested MERRIMAN clamping band brake system, which holds the wire in any position and enables easy lowering.

Two-speed operation by repositioning the crank.

Gear ratio:

1st gear: rotation 1:1, power 6.8:1

2nd gear: rotation 3:1, force 25:1

The winch has also proved very effective as a leeboard winch on flat-bottomed ships. For this application, the winches are available for right-hand or left-hand installation on both sides.

Manufactured from solid bronze with a polished bronze or chrome-plated bronze finish. Clamping band brake, brackets, screws etc. made of seawater-resistant stainless steel.

Supplied without crank. Fitting for standard plug-in crank with 11/16’ octagon.

Also available with electric or hydraulic drive on request.

Wire capacity on the drum:

  • Wire 5 mm: 33.0 m
  • Wire 8 mm: 19.0 m

Robust classic bronze halyard winch, for wire. With winch-handle socket for normal 11/16" 8-point handles.A very robust and long-lasting unit, made of solid bronze and stainless steel. Polished or chromed bronze finish.The drum has a separate area for the loaded part of the wire to run. The brake with its solid bronze ring is operated smoothly over a strong stainless steel tommy screw (foldable) and allows very sensitive, smooth easing.Types 30 and 50 are single-gear winches,Type 80 is a two-gear winch. Type 80 also comes with electric or hydraulic power.Handle sold separately.
