Hydrostatic release unit (HRU) specially modified for replacement in EPIRBs made by JOTRON.

The unit consists of the HAMMAR H20E hydrostatic release unit (HRU), the securing bolt (this must be replaced each time the release unit is replaced!), seals, screws and a securing clip with cord.

In detail, the HRU (Hydrostatic Release Kit FB-60/FB-40/FBH-40/FB-42/FBH-42, 86218) fits the following EPIRBs:

Tron 40AIS EPIRB
Tron 40VDR EPIRB
Tron 60S EPIRB
Tron 60GPS EPIRB
Tron 60AIS EPIRB

Before installation, the HRU must be marked with the appropriate two-year approval mark (from installation).

Should the vessel sink, a spring-loaded blade in the HRU will cut the securing bolt at a water depth of 1.5 - 4 metres, allowing the EPIRB to float freely.
